A Sad Day in Tampa Bay

How can the Bucs cut one of the top players in the team's history? Brooks is a hall of famer and only had 1 year left on his contract. What is the point of cutting him?

Was it simply a "business" move? The 5 players (Derrick Brooks, Warrick Dunn, Joey Galloway, Ike Hilliard, and Cato June) that were dropped saved the team $10 million on the cap for next year. Now the Bucs are $50 under the cap. This smells like rebuilding.

Or was it a cheap way to pay for Bryant, who the Bucs placed the franchise tag on. This puts Bryant's salary at $9.8 million.

It is a good thing I didn't renew my season tickets... I wish Mr. Derrick Brooks well. He is Tampa Bay's favorite player and deserves respect. Brooks is a class act on and off the field. He will be missed in Tampa!
